Barcelona is a city of modern art. Many great painters have worked in Barcelona at some time throughout their life. Two of these are Picasso and Miro, both of which have museums showcasing their most important works. There is also hundreds of other museums and art galleries in the city. You can even do a walking tour of the ‘alternative’ art galleries of Barcelona.
There are not many European city break destinations where you can also pop down to the beach! The beaches make for an excellent recovery from any form of art and culture overload. The beachfront is lined with several bars and restaurants where you can order a sangria, sit back and enjoy the sun!
There is nothing that screams Barcelona more than their love for tapas and Mediterranean seafood. While on the beach you can sample some of the best seafood that is on offer, there are also hundreds of excellent restaurants serving tapas and conventional Spanish dishes.
Barcelona is the home to many masterpieces by great architects. The most famous is Antoni Gaudi. Gaudi’s work is looked at by architects from all over the world as being incredibly unique, distinctive and stylish in modern architecture. One of his most well-known works is La Sagrada Familia.
