Incentive Travel Destination Guide: Barcelona

Barcelona is the capital of north-eastern Spain’s Catalonia. It has its own very special culture, personality and traditions.

There is very few cities in Europe that are as diverse in terms of cultural experience as Barcelona. Alongside the 4.2km of beach close to the city centre, beautiful weather all year around, gives Barcelona all the makings of a Spanish holiday.

Barcelona is well connected with All London airports.

The following airlines fly to Barcelona:

  • British Airways

Art

Barcelona is a city of modern art. Many great painters have worked in Barcelona at some time throughout their life. Two of these are Picasso and Miro, both of which have museums showcasing their most important works. There is also hundreds of other museums and art galleries in the city. You can even do a walking tour of the ‘alternative’ art galleries of Barcelona.

Beaches

There are not many European city break destinations where you can also pop down to the beach! The beaches make for an excellent recovery from any form of art and culture overload. The beachfront is lined with several bars and restaurants where you can order a sangria, sit back and enjoy the sun!

Cuisine

There is nothing that screams Barcelona more than their love for tapas and Mediterranean seafood. While on the beach you can sample some of the best seafood that is on offer, there are also hundreds of excellent restaurants serving tapas and conventional Spanish dishes.

Architecture

Barcelona is the home to many masterpieces by great architects. The most famous is Antoni Gaudi. Gaudi’s work is looked at by architects from all over the world as being incredibly unique, distinctive and stylish in modern architecture. One of his most well-known works is La Sagrada Familia.

Best Group Size

There is not the best group size for Barcelona. Several of the activities allow for large numbers of guests.

However, if you would like to secure a box at Camp Nou for one of the football games the best group size is between 6 to 16 guests.

If you are used to the cold and wet weather of the UK, the table above shoes that the weather is pleasant for most of the year (even though the locals will complain about the freezing 14 degrees of the winter months). In between the months of May to the end of July are the most attractive months to visit the city. In September, the weather remains very warm (and less school children).
