The Question of Sport 2016 Dinner in Pictures

Tuffers, Daws And Rachel Wyse On Stage

On Thursday 21st April we held our Question of Sport Gala Dinner in aid of Cricket United at the home of cricket, Lord’s. We welcomed guests with a champagne reception in the museum along with memorabilia and England cricket stars David Willey and Steven Finn. Before heading into the main event for a night of Q&A’s, fine food and raising money for a fantastic cause.
Sky Sports presenter Rachel Wyse hosted the night and was joined on stage by England Rugby legend Matt Dawson and our very own Phil Tufnell. Each table was then asked to select a captain for their table who would be answering sporting questions shown on screens around the room just as it would have been on the Question of Sport TV Show. Each round was split between courses. Round 1 was followed by a starter before we headed into round 2 of more tough questions. Each team could see where they placed on the leader board at the end of each round. The main course soon followed round 2 before heading into the final and decisive round to see who won the top prize of a “Dawson & Tufnell Challenge Trophy” and a table of 10 at our “Evening with the Stars”.
Steven Finn, David Willey and Jason Roy then took to the stage for the evenings Q&A answering questions regarding their playing career so far and their opinions on our T20 performance in India where we lost to the West Indies in the final. Many questions also pointed to their former team mate and colleague James Taylor who recently had to retire from the game at the young age of 26 due to a heart condition. This gave us a great insight into their playing careers and the togetherness they have within the England side.
As this was a fundraising event for Cricket United we welcomed onto the stage a young boy Jack who is a huge cricket fan and currently in remission from A.L.L. Jack completely stole the show as he was on stage with Rachel Wyse talking about how much he was excited to be in attendance with some of his sporting heroes. As he left the stage he was given a standing ovation and was cheered by everybody in the room. What a truly inspirational child he is and a great character.
Phil Tufnell and Matt Dawson ended the evening with a Q&A on stage with Rachel Wyse. Dawson talking through his England rugby days and Tuffers talking about the joys of bowling against cricket legend Brian Lara.
What a great evening it was shared by all involved as we continue to raise funds for fantastic causes at our gala dinners. Our event was also featured in C&IT Magazine.
