Who is Oleksandr Usyk?
Currently the unified cruiserweight champion of the world, Usyk was born in the Ukrainian city of Simferopol in 1987.

Following a promising youth career with former Ukrainian football champions SC Tavriya, Usyk took up boxing at 16 and begun his amateur career just four years later. Usyk quickly climbed the ranks and represented his country at both the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, taking the gold medal in London as a heavyweight.

A year later Usky turned professional after he was signed up by the Klitschko brothers’ K2 Promotions to box at cruiserweight.

Since turning pro Usyk has proved himself to be an excellent all-round fighter and won the WBO Inter-Continental title in just his fifth fight.

He is now the unified champion of the world after his points win over Murat Gassiev in July and puts it all on the line in his bout with Tony ‘Bomber’ Bellew on 10th November at the Manchester Arena. This will be Usyk’s first time fighting in the UK since his Olympic victory, so why not watch the Ukrainian in style with a boxing hospitality package from Paragon.

Can Bellew prove the doubters wrong once again?
The popular Scouser has been around the boxing block but has risen to recent fame after facing former World Champion, David Haye twice – in March 2017 & May 2018.

Despite being underdog with the bookies on both occasions Bellew proved the doubters wrong with two brilliant wins, earning him the right to take on the unified champion of the cruiserweight division, Oleksandr Usyk.

The Fight
Once again the bookies are against Tony Bellew with Oleksandr Usyk priced up as the 1/6 favourite with a best price of 9/2 if you fancy Bellew*. Usyk has never lost a bout in his career and Bellew knows he’s up against it once again. “There’s no chance of out-boxing him so I have to knock him out,” Bellew told Sky Sports. That doesn’t mean however that Bellew is resigned to defeat. Bellew went onto say “I will knock him out – believe you me, I will knock Oleksandr Usyk out in the mid-to-late rounds.”

Bellew believes Usyk is the “ultimate amateur” but he is the “ultimate professional”.
