Dan Lawrence

A right-handed batsman and right-arm leg break bowler who currently plays for Essex.

• He made his first-class debut for Essex against Kent in April 2015
• Primarily a right-handed batsman, he also bowls right-arm leg spin
• In December 2015, he was named in England's squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup

Daniel Lawrence became the third youngest batsman to make a Championship century when he struck 161 for Essex against Surrey at The Oval in April 2015 at the age of 17 years and 290 days. It was only his second first-class game. His chanceless century, part of Essex’s 600-plus score on a placid surface, brimmed with panache and self-assurance. In doing so he compiled records – and lots of them: youngest ever Essex first-class centurion, youngest centurion at The Oval, and third on the Championship list, outdone only by Godfrey Bryan and Dipak Patel. He is a product of Chingford CC (where he first opened the batting at 13) and has also played for the Australian club side Newton and Chilwell.
